ADRIA BUDD JOHNSON

Eric has been working in the film and television industry exclusively for over 20 years.  His credits include, HBO/Cinemax Steven Soderbergh directed series THE KNICK, LEGENDS OF THE FALL, SMALLVILLE, FLASH GORDON, SCORN, GINGER SNAPS BACK, THE UNIT, CRIMINAL MINDS, ALCATRAZ, ORPHAN BLACK, ROOKIE BLUE, SAVING HOPE, the UBISOFT video game franchise SPLINTER CELL: BLACKLIST voicing and providing motion capture performance for the lead SAM FISHER and starred as JACK HYDE in the world billion dollar box office FIFTY SHADES OF GREY franchise.  Eric is currently shooting the international acclaimed TV series VIKINGS.

 

With both domestic and international success on his resume in front of the camera, including a Gemini nomination for Best Actor in a Leading Role in 2001 at the age of 21, Eric Johnson began to look for new challenges behind the lens. He made his directorial début with the 2002 Crazy 8’s short film CANDY FROM STRANGERS.  Awarded a DGC Kickstart film in 2004, Eric produced, wrote, directed, edited and composed his second short film, FISHBOWL in early 2005.  FISHBOWL played in festivals around the world and was nominated for two Leo awards, including Eric, for Best Editor. 

 

Eric’s debut feature film BEST DAY EVER: Aiden Kesler 1994-2011, which he co-wrote, co-directed, produced and edited is available on iTunes, Youtube Rentals, Hulu and many other digital platforms.  The latest short film project is the Audience Choice Award winning SHELLY which he directed as part of the 2013 Toronto 48 hour Film Challenge.

Currently, he is producing a mini-series, IN DIOS that he co-wrote with Indigenous writer Andrew Genaille originally as a feature film under the Telefilm Featuring Aboriginal Stories Program.  Partnering with Mongrel Media, the mini-series deals with the complex issues surrounding the aftermath of the Indian Residential School system. IN DIOS was 1st runner up in the 2015 Canadian Film Fest’s Harold Greenberg Screenwriting Competition.

 

After more than 10 years in front of the camera, Adria Budd Johnson attended Northern Alberta Institute of Technology’s Radio and Television Arts program to focus on the world of production. Adria finished this program at a self-placed internship on Lois and Clark: The New Adventures of Superman. She followed up with four years at Mainframe Entertainment, Inc. in development, writing  and assisting in the production of computer animated series, features and Imax Ridefilms including REBOOT and WEIRD-OHS. Adria returned to the live action realm to script coordinate numerous Vancouver based films and tv projects including MGM’s THE OUTER LIMITS, Global’s BIG SOUND and Miramax/Disney’s 2001 version of A WRINKLE IN TIME. She also wrote and/or produced several short films including Crazy8’s film CANDY FROM STRANGERS, a DGC-BC Kickstart Program and LEO Award nominated FISHBOWL with director Eric Johnson, BEAUTY SHOT with director Holly Redford and BLINDED with producer Shea Wageman. Adria is a recipient of a Praxis Fellowship for her script REFUGEE, and the Harold Greenberg Fund who supported script development of MAQUINNA which she cowrote w/ Eric Johnson and Andrew Genaille. She participated in the NSI Features First 2005 program which enabled her to study at the UCLA Business of Film extension program. Adria produced her 1st feature film BEST DAY EVER: Aiden Kesler 1994-2011, distributed by Syndicado globally. She won the 2013 Whistler China-Canada Gate Script Competition with THE SHANGHAI HOTEL, selected by Mathew Tang of Edko Films. Also that year she produced THE RIVER a music video for the Polaris Prize and Juno nominated band, THE DARCYS. Projects in development include: historical drama series IN DIOS, written by Eric Johnson and Andrew Genaille with EP Ilana Frank, Eagle Vision and eOne; Harold Greenburg Feature film script fund recipient REMIND ME, written by the award winning Andrew Rai Berzins, with EP Tony Wosk and Take the Shot Prods. Thriller feature film S.O.S. with Director Brett Sullivan and Australian co-producer Steve Jaggi, and the digital comedy series, ADULT IN TRAINING with Director Simone Stock, created, written and starring Nikki Bon with Eggplant Pictures. Adria is also Co-Executive Producer on the upcoming feature documentary about Phoolan Devi, India’s inspiring Bandit Queen turned Parliamentarian.
